I've finally figured out an easy way to present the passenger list from the SS Volendam. There is now an embedded spreadsheet: http://makinggenealogywaves.blogspot.com/p/testing-excel-data.html
You can scroll through the entire list, or if you know a name, you can search the text using your browser's "Find" function (Ctrl+F).
If you are looking for someone with a Dutch surname that starts "Van-", you might need to look alphabetically by the main part of their surname, without the "Van-". There are even instances where "Van" is abbreviated "V" or "v." Keep in mind that some of the passengers' given names are listed as initials only. In comparing this list with the official U.S. Customs list that the ship filed upon arrival in New York, there are variations with how passengers' names are spelled. The official custom's list has much more information about the passengers' ages and nationalities.
If you would like to examine what the entire original passenger list "booklet" looked like before I scanned them with OCR, here is a link: http://makinggenealogywaves.blogspot.com/p/ss-volendam-images-of-pages.html
I plan on keeping these two links part of the main menu on the blog.
