In case you wonder how I created the data, I scanned the pages of the booklet with optical character recognition (OCR) back in 2006. This became a test of my scanner's OCR abilities. The results were mostly good, but there were a few glitches with the typeface--some "c"s and "e"s had been mixed up. After re-checking and correcting these errors, I was ready to share this with others. At the time, I found some websites for passenger list transcriptions, but I couldn't determine that my project fit their criteria. Until recently, I'd never found a list on the Internet similar to mine. Most transcription efforts were focused on the official US Customs or Immigration Service lists. Because I wasn't certain how to proceed, I saved the files I'd created. Now with this blog, I can share this information with the genealogy community.
